Forged C-Clamp with a Tapped Boss and Swivel Pad
A C-clamp (or G-clamp) is a C-shaped steel frame with a screw through a threaded hole at one end: the screw presses a swivelling pad against the work, turned by a small bar through its head. Forge the frame from flat bar, tap the boss, thread a rod with the die, and peen a pad onto its tip.

Bend a length of flat bar hot into a deep C. Upset one end into a thick boss and flatten the other into a jaw.

Forge a small disc with a hole, turn a short spigot on the screw tip, fit the disc on it and peen the spigot over loosely so the pad turns freely.
