Wedging Table: Plaster-Topped with a Cutting Wire (Binns, 1910)

The potter's wedging table Binns taught: a strong table with a 30 by 20 in top of two-inch plank, edged to make a trough filled with plaster, and a fine brass wire stretched diagonally from a post on one side for cutting the clay. Clay is cut on the wire and slapped down on the plaster, fifteen or twenty times, until it is even; wet the plaster if it stiffens the clay too fast. Source: C. F.
