Rubidium: Rubidium Chloride Heated with Calcium in an Iron Boat in Vacuum (Hackspill, Thorpe 1912)
Calcium takes the chlorine from rubidium chloride when heated in vacuum, and the rubidium, being very volatile, distils away from the boat.
Result: silver-white rubidium (sp. gr. 1.52, melts at 38.5 °C). It oxidises fast in air and burns in water.
Source: Thorpe, Dictionary of Applied Chemistry vol. 4 (1912), p. 596, after Hackspill (Compt. rend. 1905). Not given: amounts and temperature. Picture drawn by Youblob.
