Walnut Oil: Kernels Cold-Pressed, Settled and Filtered

Walnut oil is pressed from walnut kernels. It is a drying oil: in air it hardens into a strong, flexible film, and its short drying time and lack of yellow tint suit oil paint. Crack the nuts, press the kernels cold, let the oil settle and filter it. The picture: our diagram of the screw press.
