Wolframite ore — a solid solution series of iron manganese tungstate ((Fe,Mn)WO₄) — the principal ore of tungsten. Dark brown to black with a submetallic luster, specific gravity 7.0-7.5. Major deposits in China, Portugal, and Bolivia. Processed by alkaline pressure leaching to extract tungsten trioxide.
