Hydro-treated Gasoline: Cracked Light Gas Oil and Isoheptanes Desulphurised with Hydrogen over Cobalt Molybdate at 700 °F (Gulf, US 3,071,535)

Sulphur in petrol and fuel oil is removed by heating the oil with hydrogen over a cobalt molybdate catalyst. Gulf treats its cracked light gas oil together with isoheptanes this way; a small gasoline fraction comes out alongside the desulphurised gas oil. Result (Gulf's example, barrels per day): from 10,555 of FCC light gas oil and 1,796 of isoheptanes, 1,825 of hydro-treated gasoline and 10,559 of treated light gas oil for No. 2 fuel oil.
