Galena ore — lead sulfide (PbS), the primary ore of lead. A dense, silver-grey mineral with a distinctive cubic crystal habit. Smelts at relatively low temperatures (~800 °C with carbon) to yield metallic lead. Often contains silver, making it a secondary source of precious metal. Toxic — wash hands after handling.
