Micro-fine 1500-grit sandpaper is the penultimate step before buffing compound in automotive and woodworking polish sequences. Used wet, it removes the finest scratches left by 1000-grit, leaving a surface ready for machine buffing to a mirror gloss. Also used in luthiery for final guitar finish polishing.
