Thread made from dried and split animal sinew (tendon), traditionally from deer, elk, or cattle leg tendons. Extremely strong for its diameter — shrinks and tightens as it dries, creating self-locking stitches. Used for sewing leather, binding arrow fletching, and lashing tool heads since the Palaeolithic.
