Laminated Spruce Blank: Planed Spruce Boards Glued Grain-Parallel and Clamped
A laminated blank is several thin boards glued face to face with their grain running the same way: small pieces make one large member, and defects in one layer matter less. Saw and dry spruce boards, plane them smooth, glue them up and clamp them tight.

Saw the spruce log into boards about 12 mm thick, seal the ends and air-dry them under stickers until the meter reads 8 to 14 % moisture.

Plane both faces of each board flat and smooth for gluing; check with a straightedge.

Glue up
Warm the glue in a double boiler, brush it on the faces, and stack the boards with the grain all running lengthwise.

Clamp
Clamp the stack tight every 15 cm or so and leave it a day. Plane the faces and edges true.
