Saturated Brine: Salt Stirred into Water to Excess
Brine is salt dissolved in water. Saturated, it holds about 26 % salt, depending on the temperature. It preserves and seasons food, and it is used with oil to harden steel. Stir salt into water until some will not dissolve, then pour off the clear brine.
