Silver Nitrate Crystals: Fine Silver in Nitric Acid, Ure 1839
Silver nitrate is the silver salt of photography and of the laboratory. Andrew Ure (1839): saturate nitric acid of specific gravity 1.25 with pure silver, evaporate and crystallise. The crystals are colourless tables that dissolve in their own weight of cold water. Swallowed, it is a strong poison.
