Making Pine Pitch Glue — Nature's Superglue

Pine pitch glue: 200,000+ years of use. Three ingredients from any conifer forest. Waterproof, reheatable, and sets rock-hard in seconds.

Beginner
30-45 minutes

Instructions

1

Collect Resin

Scrape golden sap from wounds on pine, spruce, or fir trees. Use existing wounds — don't cut living trees. Golf ball-sized amount. Fresh or old crystallized both work.
2

The Chemistry

3

Melt & Mix

Heat resin gently near fire until liquid. Add charcoal powder gradually, stir constantly. Optionally add small piece of beeswax for flex. Mix until uniformly black.
4

Form Glue Sticks

Roll warm mixture around a stick. To use later: hold over flame until tip softens, apply to joint. Sets in seconds. Waterproof. Reheatable forever.
