The Stove-Side Drier: Frames That Fold Down Over the Heat

On a wet day the only warm place in the house is by the kitchen stove, but a line strung there is in the way of the cook. George T. Sampson of Dayton, Ohio, received US 476,416, dated 7 June 1892 (filed 24 June 1891), for a clothes-drier whose object "is to suspend clothing in close relation to a stove by means of frames so constructed that they can be readily placed in proper position and put aside when not required for use". This rung works out the energy needed to dry a load and how long a stove takes to supply it, then weighs a load drying on a rack near a heat source.
