A large stainless steel vessel (40–80 litre capacity) used for dyeing textiles at scale, boiling plant materials for extraction, rendering fat, and preparing mordant baths. Stainless steel is preferred for dyeing because it does not react with mordants or shift dye colours the way copper or iron pots do.
