Crushed malachite (Cu₂CO₃(OH)₂), a bright green copper carbonate hydroxide mineral. One of the earliest copper ores smelted by humans — reduces to metallic copper at relatively low temperatures (~1,100 °C) with charcoal. Also ground as a vivid green pigment used since antiquity in Egyptian and Renaissance painting.
