Nitrobenzene (C₆H₅NO₂) — a pale yellow, oily liquid with a bitter almond odour. An important chemical intermediate in the synthesis of aniline (the parent compound of synthetic dyes). Highly toxic — absorbed through skin and lungs. Work only with full PPE and ventilation.
