Basswood Sheets and Carving Blocks: Log Sawn, Air-Dried and Planed
Basswood is light, soft and fine-grained, free of knots, and planes, glues and carves easily: the carver's and model-maker's wood. It does not split easily, so saw the log into boards, dry them, then rip thin sheets and cut carving blocks.
The picture: our diagram, log to stickered boards to sheets and a block.
