Bench Hook: a Beech Bed with a Fence on Top and a Hook Below

A bench hook holds small work for sawing across the grain: a flat bed with a stop on top at one end and another underneath at the other. The lower stop hooks over the front of the bench; you hold the work against the upper one, and its end guides the saw. Three pieces of beech, glued and pegged. The picture: sawing on a bench hook with a backsaw.
