Brazing Torch: a Pressure-Tank Gasoline or Kerosene Torch (Shop Notes, 1909)
A shop brazing and tempering torch: a wall-hung pipe tank of gasoline or kerosene pumped up with a bicycle pump, feeding a 1/8 in pipe whose end is coiled round a short 1 in pipe; the flame heats the coil, the oil turns to gas, and it blasts out through a pinhole cap.
Two burners on a tee give a bigger heat.

Coil the burner
Drill the bottom cap and connect a 1/8 in pipe D, any length, with a globe valve in it to set and shut off the oil. Fill the last 10 in of the pipe with lead, coil it round a 1 in pipe F 6 in long, and turn the end out to take two elbows and a short nipple; then melt the lead out. Drill a small hole in the centre of a 1/8 in cap and fit it on the end (E) so the hole lines up with the centre of pipe F.
