Cold Frame: a Low Wooden Box with a Hinged, Glazed Lid Sloped to the Sun
A cold frame is a low box with a clear roof: a miniature greenhouse for raising seedlings and hardening them off. Build a wooden frame one to two feet tall, glaze a lid, slope it toward the winter sun and hinge it at the back.
The picture: our diagram, the frame in section with its lid toward the sun.
