Cyclohexanone from Cyclohexanol Steam-Distilled over Copper-Chromium-Barium Oxide (Winans, Wingfoot, US 2,218,457)

Taking two hydrogens off cyclohexanol gives cyclohexanone, the slow solvent in PVC cement. Winans carried the alcohol with steam over a hot copper-chromium-barium oxide; the catalyst lasts and is woken again with hot air. Result: 330 g cyclohexanone from 351 g cyclohexanol, 94 %. Source: Winans, US 2,218,457 (Wingfoot, 1940), Example 1. Picture drawn by Youblob.
