Dimethyl Silicone Oil: Dimethyldichlorosilane Hydrolysed in Dilute Hydrochloric Acid, Agens 1948

Dimethyldichlorosilane dripped slowly into dilute hydrochloric acid gives up its chlorine and links into an oily silicone (Agens, General Electric, US 2,448,756, 1948). Washed, dried and stripped of everything boiling below 190 °C, the oil is ready to be made into silicone rubber. The picture: our diagram of the four stages.
