Forged Steel Dividers with a Riveted Joint
Dividers are a compass with two steel points: set them to a distance and step it off along a line, transfer it from a rule to the work, or scratch a circle. Forge two matching legs, rivet them at a stiff joint so they hold a setting, and harden the points.
The picture: steel spring dividers set with a screw; the ones made here hold their setting by a stiff riveted joint instead.
