Scriber: Steel Rod with Hardened Points at Both Ends
A scriber marks lines on metal before it is cut or machined: a steel rod with a hardened and tempered point, dragged over the surface to leave a shallow scratch. Many have a point at each end, one bent to reach into holes. Draw tool steel to a thin rod, point both ends, bend one, and harden the points.
The picture: four scribers, one with a bent point and a knurled grip.
