Silver Nitrate Solution, 0.1 M: Fine Silver Dissolved in Nitric Acid, Ure 1839
Silver nitrate shows the faintest trace of salt in water as a white cloud, which is why chemists titrate chlorides with it. Andrew Ure (1839): saturate nitric acid with pure silver, evaporate and crystallise. Dissolve a weighed amount of the crystals to a known volume. Swallowed, it is a strong poison.
