Sistrum Jingles: Thin Bronze Discs That Slide on the Crossbars

A sistrum rattles because small pieces of thin metal slide loose on its crossbars (Wikipedia, Sistrum). Here they are cut as small discs from thin bronze sheet, each with a hole larger than the crossbar wire. Size and method are ours. The picture: an ancient Egyptian bronze sistrum with discs on its crossbars (Wikimedia Commons).
