Strontium Chloride: Strontianite Dissolved in Hydrochloric Acid (Roscoe 1913)
Strontianite, the native strontium carbonate, dissolves in hydrochloric acid. The hot strong solution grows long needles of the hydrated chloride as it cools, and heating them leaves the dry salt.
Result: anhydrous strontium chloride, a white powder.
