Sugar of Lead: Litharge Dissolved in Strong Vinegar, Ure 1839

Sugar of lead is lead acetate: litharge dissolved in hot strong vinegar until the acid is used up, then settled, concentrated and crystallised (Ure, 1839). It is a cumulative poison: never taste it, keep it away from food and children, and wash hands and tools after use. The picture: lead acetate crystals.
