Watch Glasses Cut from a Large Blown Bulb

A watch glass is a round, shallow dish of glass, named for the glass on old pocket watches; chemists evaporate drops on it, weigh solids in it and cover beakers with it. Blow a large, even bulb, cut round caps out of its side and grind their edges smooth. The picture: a powder (stearic acid) held on a watch glass.
