Crude carbolic acid: the dark, oily mixture of phenol, cresols, water and tar oils freed from carbolic oil by caustic soda and acid. Used as a disinfectant, and refined into crystallised carbolic acid (phenol) and cresylic acid. Poisonous and corrosive to skin.
