Turpentine distilled from pine resin — a volatile solvent composed primarily of alpha-pinene. The traditional thinner for oil paints, varnishes, and resin-based preparations. Evaporates cleanly, leaving the dissolved resin or oil as a film. Flammable, with a strong pine odour.
