MOS Reference: Hard metamorphic rock formed when sandstone is subjected to extreme heat and pressure, fusing quartz grains into an interlocking mosaic. Superior scratch resistance (Mohs 7) and heat tolerance make it one of the most durable natural countertop materials. Resembles marble aesthetically but outperforms it in hardness and stain resistance.
