Slaked lime — calcium hydroxide (Ca(OH)₂) — produced by adding water to quicklime. A strong alkali used in mortar, plaster, hide processing (liming), water treatment, and as a flux in smelting. Also used in nixtamalisation of maize and as a whitewash pigment (lime wash).
