Concentrated hydrochloric acid (HCl, 37% w/w), a strong mineral acid used for dissolving metal oxides, cleaning (pickling) metal surfaces, and synthesising chloride salts. Produces dense, choking fumes — work only in a fume hood or outdoors with full respiratory protection.
