Antimony Trioxide: Roasted Antimony Fused with More Metal (Thorpe 1912)
Antimony trioxide is a white, fusible powder that turns to vapour at red heat. Powdered antimony heated in a shallow dish becomes antimony tetroxide. Fused with more metal, the tetroxide gives the trioxide, and the spare metal sinks.

Fuse with unchanged metal
Fuse the tetroxide with unchanged antimony in a crucible. They react to antimony trioxide, and the spare metal sinks to the bottom. Ours: a lidded crucible, kept below red heat as far as you can, since the trioxide is volatile at red heat. Heated longer in air it goes back to the tetroxide.
