Micro-fine 1000-grit sandpaper is used wet for achieving near-mirror finishes. Used in automotive detailing for removing orange peel texture from clear coat, polishing jewellery metals, and final finishing of musical instrument lacquer. At this grit level the abrasive action is closer to polishing than sanding.
