Bamboo Drying Rack: Split-Cane Slats on a Pole Frame
A flat rack of split bamboo slats lashed across a pole frame, with gaps between the slats so air reaches what is laid on it from above and below: noodles, herbs, tea leaves or fruit. Split the culms into slats, build the frame on four legs, and lash the slats on.
The picture: our diagram of the rack.

Saw bamboo culms to the width of the rack. Set the froe on the end, strike it with the mallet and split each culm in halves, then quarters and on into strips about 3 cm wide. Knife off the inner node walls.
