Open Slatted Wooden Packing Crate

A crate is a self-supporting wooden box for carrying and storing goods; it reaches its full strength only with all six sides on. An open crate of slats with gaps is light, lets air through and shows what is inside. Nail slats to four corner battens, then fit the base and lid. The picture: our diagram of an open slatted crate.
