Making Pine Pitch Glue — Nature's Superglue

Pine pitch glue: 200,000+ years of use. Three ingredients from any conifer forest. Waterproof, reheatable, and sets rock-hard in seconds.

Collect Resin

Scrape golden sap from wounds on pine, spruce, or fir trees. Use existing wounds — don't cut living trees. Golf ball-sized amount. Fresh or old crystallized both work.

The Chemistry

Materials for this step:

Melt & Mix

Heat resin gently near fire until liquid. Add charcoal powder gradually, stir constantly. Optionally add small piece of beeswax for flex. Mix until uniformly black.

Form Glue Sticks

Roll warm mixture around a stick. To use later: hold over flame until tip softens, apply to joint. Sets in seconds. Waterproof. Reheatable forever.
