Ladle Carved in One Piece from Green Hardwood

A ladle is a large, deep spoon on a long handle, the bowl often angled so it lifts liquid from the pot. Wooden ladles are carved in one piece, with no joints. Split a green hardwood blank, axe out the shape, hollow the bowl with a gouge, cut a pouring lip at each side, and dry it slowly. The picture: a one-piece carved wooden ladle with a deep bowl.
