Scrub Brush: Bristle Tufts Drawn into a Beech Block with Wire

A scrub brush is a wooden block set with tufts of stiff bristle. Brushmakers drill holes in the block and secure the bristles with wire or cord. Drill a beech block on a grid, fold each tuft over a wire and pull it into its hole, run the wire along the back, cover it with a glued veneer, and trim the bristles level. The picture: our diagram, the block in section with its drawn tufts.
