Glass Delivery Tube: Cut and Bent over a Broad Flame (Frary, 1914)
A delivery tube is just glass tube cut square and bent to lead gas or vapour where it is wanted. A single clean scratch and a pull give a square break; a broad flame and a turning tube give an even bend that does not kink.
Result: a bent glass delivery tube for gas generators, stills and similar apparatus.
Source: F. C. Frary, C. S. Taylor and J. D. Edwards, Laboratory Manual of Glass-Blowing (1914), pp. 7-9. Unknown: the tube's shape and size, which depend on the apparatus. Picture: a drawn diagram.

Cut the tube square
Grind an old flat file into a glass-knife, its edges sharp with a 30 to 60 degree bevel. Scratch the cold tube once with it; never saw back and forth. Pull the ends apart while bending the tube very slightly to open the crack. For large or thin-walled tube, touch a red-hot glass bead, 1/16 to 1/8 inch, to the scratch to start the crack round. If the glass is hot, use a file with its edge moistened.

Bend it in a broad flame
Heat the tube in a broad flame, turning it on its axis all the time, and let it bend mostly under its own weight. For large tube, stopper one end and bend with great care. If the bend starts to collapse or deform, blow it gently back into shape, reheating that spot. Frary uses a fish-tail burner for most work and a blast lamp for large tube. Ours: the bench blast lamp for both. Not given: the shape and sizes.
