Iron Fire Rake Forged from One Bar

A rake is a bar fixed across a handle; for coals and embers it is made of iron. Draw one end of a wrought-iron bar out into a flat blade, bend it square to the shaft, and loop the other end into a handle. The picture: Etruscan iron fire-rake fragments, a flat blade bent at a right angle from the shaft (Metropolitan Museum of Art).
