Nail Header, Rivet Set, Raising Stake and Fire Poker
Four small forge tools. The nail header is a plate of iron with a small hole: a hot nail pin is dropped in and its broad end hammered flat into a head. The rivet set holds a rivet's head in a shaped hollow while its tail is peened over. The raising stake is a polished steel mushroom for raising and planishing sheet. The poker is a long pointed rod for working the fire.

Forge flat tool steel into a short bar with a handle, punch and drift one or more tapered holes through its thick end (step 5 for sizes), harden it and temper to blue.

Rivet set
Forge a short tool-steel punch. Drill a hollow in its end the shape of a rivet head, and a hole beside it for drawing plates down over the rivet shank. Harden the end and temper it.

Raising stake
Raising stake
Upset tool steel into a mushroom head about 70 mm across with a square shank to stand in the vise or a stump. Grind and stone the head to a smooth, polished dome.
