Shellac Sanding Sealer: a Thin One-Pound Cut in Alcohol

Thinned shellac is sold as sanding sealer: a first coat that soaks into bare wood so the finish coats are not drunk up, and that stops resin bleeding through. Dissolve about 120 g of flakes in a litre of alcohol, a one-pound cut, strain it and keep it closed; it lasts about a year. The picture: pine board with coats of shellac.
