Hex Bolts Turned from Hex Bar
A hex bolt is hex bar with most of its length turned round and threaded: the part left hexagonal is the head. Held in a three-jaw chuck, the bar's flats become the spanner flats with no further work. Sizes follow ISO 4017; the notebook lists M6 to M10.
These are mild steel bolts. They are not a high-strength grade such as 8.8, which needs heat-treated alloy steel.
