Two-Tine Pitchfork Split from One Iron Bar

A pitchfork pitches hay, straw, manure or leaves: a long wooden shaft and slightly curved metal tines, wide apart for hay. Split one end of a wrought-iron bar, draw the halves into two round tines, draw a tang at the other end and fit it into the shaft under an iron ferrule. The picture: our diagram of the four stages.
