Ash from completely burned hardwood (oak, beech, ash, maple), rich in potassium carbonate (potash) and calcium compounds. Used to make lye for soapmaking, as a flux in glassmaking, as a fertiliser, and as a cleaning abrasive. The alkalinity varies by wood species and combustion completeness.
