Alternatively, tie small bundles of stems with leaves attached and hang them upside down in a dry, airy room. The leaves are fully dry when they crumble crisply between your fingers — typically five to ten days depending on humidity. Avoid artificial heat above 35 degrees Celsius, which drives off the menthol before it can be locked into the dried leaf structure. Properly dried peppermint retains its menthol content and strong aroma for up to eighteen months.
